Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the procedure be uncomfortable?
Most cosmetic treatments may cause mild discomfort, though sensitivity varies depending on the area being treated. Areas like the lips can be more sensitive than others. Many procedures are quick and well-tolerated without numbing, but we can provide topical or local numbing if needed. Tools such as ice, facial massagers, or stress balls can help manage any discomfort during the session.

If you are more sensitive to pain, factors like stress, hormonal changes, or high caffeine intake can increase sensitivity. For treatments on delicate areas, consider reducing caffeine on the day and scheduling outside of menstruation if possible.

    Is the treatment safe?
Treatments are generally safe, with side effects being uncommon and usually mild. Temporary swelling, redness, or bruising may occur, and cold sores can flare if prone to them in the treatment area. Rarely, some clients may experience more prolonged reactions that require follow-up care. If any unusual or persistent reactions occur, contact us promptly so we can provide appropriate treatment.

    Before your treatment
To reduce the risk of bruising or swelling, avoid heavy exercise and excessive alcohol for 24 hours prior. Medications or supplements like aspirin or high-dose vitamin E should be paused for a week before your appointment. Most clients can resume normal activities immediately, but we recommend scheduling at least one to two weeks before major events to allow time for any temporary effects to settle.

  • What is Botulinum Toxin A?
Botulinum Toxin A is a purified natural protein derived from bacteria. It has been safely used for over two decades to treat a variety of medical and cosmetic concerns, including muscle spasms, excessive sweating, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

How does the anti-wrinkle treatment work?
When injected into specific muscles, Botulinum Toxin A temporarily relaxes them, preventing contraction. This helps smooth the skin above, reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. For example, if the muscles used for frowning are treated, you won’t be able to frown during the treatment’s active period, but normal movement gradually returns as the effect wears off.

    When will I see results?
Most clients begin to notice changes within two to three days, with full results visible between 7 and 14 days after treatment.

    How long do results last?
Results typically last three to four months, varying by individual. The effects gradually diminish over time. To maintain smooth results, two to three treatments per year are recommended. Repeated treatments may extend the duration of future results.

Where can Botulinum Toxin A be used?
    Common areas include:

    • Between the brows (glabellar lines)

    • Around the eyes (crow’s feet)

    • The forehead

It can also be used to:

    • Lift the brows

    • Soften fine lines around the mouth (smoker’s lines)

    • Smooth nose wrinkles or chin dimpling

    • Address concerns such as excessive sweating, jaw reshaping, or teeth grinding

Botulinum Toxin A is not effective on wrinkles that are visible when facial muscles are at rest (deep lines). For these, a personalized consultation will help identify the most suitable treatment options.

    Are there any side effects?
Side effects are usually minor and temporary. The most common is slight bruising at the injection site, which can be minimized by staying hydrated and avoiding caffeine or alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment.

Less common side effects include minor toxin spread to nearby muscles, which may cause temporary drooping of the eyelids or eyebrows, mild asymmetry, or slight eye muscle weakness. Around 1% of clients may experience a mild headache in the first few days following treatment. Any concerns after your procedure should be discussed with our clinic promptly.

  • What is a dermal filler?
At Baey Aesthetics, we use dermal fillers made from non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the skin that attracts and retains water. Dermal fillers are designed to restore facial volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, improve the appearance of folds and depressed scars, and enhance the shape and fullness of the lips.

How long do dermal fillers last?
The longevity of results varies depending on the area treated, the type of filler used, and individual factors. Most treatments last between 3 and 12 months, and in some cases even longer. Your practitioner will discuss the expected duration for your specific treatment during your consultation.

When will I see the final results?
Final results are typically visible 4–6 weeks after treatment. This allows the filler to settle fully and any initial swelling or bruising to resolve. If additional treatment is needed, it is usually recommended to wait at least six weeks before making adjustments.

What should I expect in the first 24–48 hours?
Mild swelling or puffiness is common, especially in areas like the lips, and usually settles within 48 hours. Some areas may appear slightly uneven at first, but this generally does not affect the final result. Bruising can occur at the injection site but typically fades within a week. Mineral makeup can be applied to cover any temporary redness if desired.

  • What is Microneedling?

Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling uses a handheld device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin's surface. These stimulate the body's natural healing response, triggering production of collagen and elastin — essential proteins for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. The micro-punctures also enhance absorption of topical skincare products, maximising their effectiveness.

Microneedling can address a range of skin concerns including acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and uneven texture. The depth of treatment is tailored to individual needs. The procedure is minimally invasive, with mild redness and swelling typically subsiding within a few days.

  • What are skin boosters?
Injectable treatments that hydrate and rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen and elastin. They improve firmness, smoothness, and overall skin quality without adding volume.

How are they different from dermal fillers?
Unlike fillers, which add volume, skin boosters nourish and regenerate the skin from within to reduce fine lines and improve elasticity.

    Which areas can be treated?
Face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, knees, and inner thighs.

How long does a treatment take?
Most sessions last 15–30 minutes, depending on the area.

    Does it hurt?
Small injections are generally well-tolerated. Topical anaesthetic can be applied if needed.

    Is there downtime?
Minimal—some redness or bumps may appear but usually resolve within a few hours.

    How many sessions are needed?
Typically 2–4 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart. Some results are visible after the first treatment.

    Are skin boosters safe?
Yes. They use naturally occurring ingredients like hyaluronic acid and amino acids, which are gradually absorbed by the body.

    When will I see results?
Improvements in hydration and texture can appear within 1–2 weeks, with full benefits visible after several sessions.
